The history of Zion (Shaffer's) is closely tied to that of its neighboring communities, particularly the Borough of Glen Rock, celebrating its Sesquicentennial in 2010.

The remainder of this page is maintained as an archive of events which took place to celebrate the 150th Anniversary of Zion Shaffer's Union Sunday School.
April 26
Sunday closest to the founding date of April 24 (1859)
9:00 AM Old Time Sunday School (Holy Communion at 10:15 AM)
All gathered in the Nave for a Sunday School session with hymns, scripture, and reflections on the Zion (Shaffer's) Sunday School by its leaders.
Those attending received a keepsake plus an additional candy ticket for the Picnic!
August 9 Family Day Picnic in the Picnic Woods
11:00 AM Holy Communion using Vacation Bible School songs.
The Picnic menu featured many of the foods offered at the Shaffer's Picnic, held on a Saturday in August until the mid 1960's. Menu included chicken corn soup, burgers in sauce, and Carman's ice cream.
